Technical Product Owner/Project Manager
Think product. Understand tech. Drive delivery.
We’re looking for a Technical Product Owner / Project Manager who can comfortably move between product ownership and project management depending on the needs of the project.
You’ll work closely with clients, stakeholders, and development teams to understand what needs to be built, turn business needs into clear product requirements, and make sure projects move forward successfully.
This is a hands-on role that requires a strong understanding of software development and web applications. You don't need to code, but you should be comfortable discussing technical solutions with developers, understanding technical constraints and dependencies, asking the right questions, and translating between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Depending on the project, you may take primarily a Product Owner role, primarily a Project Manager role, or combine responsibilities from both.
What you'll do
Work with stakeholders and development teams to understand business needs and translate them into product requirements
Define and prioritize product scope, features, and backlog
Write clear user stories and acceptance criteria
Clarify functional and technical requirements as development progresses
Understand proposed technical solutions well enough to identify dependencies, constraints, risks, and their impact on the product
Facilitate discussions between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders
Plan and coordinate project delivery, including scope, timelines, priorities, dependencies, and risks
Lead release planning, sprint planning, and backlog refinement
Track delivery progress and proactively address blockers and risks
Manage changes in scope or priorities and understand their impact on delivery
Keep stakeholders informed about progress, risks, decisions, and changes
Use feedback and data to inform product decisions and future iterations
What we're looking for
3+ years of experience in technical product ownership, software project management, or a role combining both
Hands-on experience working with software development teams
Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and how web applications are built
Ability to understand technical discussions, solutions, dependencies, and trade-offs without necessarily writing code
Experience translating business requirements into clear requirements for development teams
Experience managing software projects, including scope, timelines, dependencies, risks, and stakeholder expectations
Good understanding of Agile principles and practices
Strong prioritization, planning, and organizational skills
Analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to make decisions independently and know when additional technical or business input is needed
Comfort working in fast-moving environments where priorities and project needs can change
Nice to have
Previous experience working in both Product Owner and Project Manager roles
Previous technical experience in software development, QA, business analysis, or a similar role
Experience with APIs, integrations, system architecture, or data flows
Experience with rapid prototyping or experimentation, including AI tools
Startup experience, either as a founder or early employee
